Business Travel News . . . “industrial-strength” information for New Zealand business travellers

Business Travel News is published by Travel Communications, a wholly-owned division of Tabs on Travel Ltd, publishers of the leading  daily travel industry newsletter Travel Today, and its weekly predecessor Tabs on Travel.

Ironically, the first issue of Tabs on Travel was 02 Nov 1987—a fortnight after the stock market crash.

It is this direct and privileged industry connection of more than 20 years that gives BTN unique access to industry insights never before available to non-industry readers.

BTN will be focusing on hard product and other relevant news and topical information in an informative style.

It is intended that it will fill a gap in the market identified by publisher Tony Dominey during those years in travel industry publishing.

Dominey says in many cases the travel knowledge of these business travellers has been under-rated, and they tend to know a lot more about the mechanics of travel than they are given credit for.

“The dynamics of business travel — in fact, all travel — has changed dramatically over recent years, but there is still a role for corporate travel agents that can’t be matched by the internet.

While the internet has been credited with driving down airfares and hotel rates, it has also created its own set of negatives.

It is incapable of answering  a call at 2am from a client stranded in some far-off, strange city.

For simple, point-to-point travel the internet has no equal, but it also doesn’t smile when things go wrong.

The Business Travel News website has a forum where business travellers can have their say on matter travel—good and bad—and it is intended that this feature will be expanded in coming months.
